Latvian phone booths have wifi access w/in 100 meters.
In Riga, Latvia yesterday and today. Went to shoot at a camp yesterday and today we’ll be in the city. The sun doesn’t set until 10:30ish here, and at midnight you can still see some blue in the sky. On the flip side, winters are probably a bit depressing.
10 more days before I fly home.
We bought train tickets for 5 different trains from Bohumin, Czech to Kaunas, Lithuania where we were planning to rent a car, and then to finish with a 3 hour drive to Riga, Latvia.
We missed our 2nd train out of Warsaw, Poland, and there wasn’t another train leaving until 22 hours later. Unawesome. Also, out of the 4000 people in Warsaw’s train station, -7 spoke english. Doubleunawesome.
So we rented a car and drove 10 hours to get here to Riga.
Poland = no highways. tripleunblahblah.
I’ve spent the last day and a half with friends in Cesky Tesin, Czech Republic. I didn’t shoot one photo, and it felt wonderful. Sometimes I view the world with one eye closed and one eye open looking through a viewfinder. It feels good to put the camera down and open both eyes. Being with my friends has been rejuvinating to my soul.
I leave for the train station in an hour (2 a.m. in Czech) and start heading toward Lithuania, where we’ll rent a car and drive into Riga, Latvia for a few days and then into Estonia for a few more days.
Right now I’m watching So You Think You Can Dance, and I have to say that I love this show. I want Joshua Allen to win.
I don’t think I can dance.
